The Government looks set to repeat the blue passports fiasco by putting ANOTHER order of national significance out to tender abroad. It'd be a huge missed opportunity for UK shipbuilding - and to the taxpayer's pocket >> http://www.gmb.org.uk/turning-the-tide#MakingIt
But does @GavinWilliamson have the same attitude to supporting Royal Navy shipbuilding in the UK? Seems not. Why is @DefenceHQ allowing shipyards in Germany, Italy, Poland, South Korea & Spain to eye up critical defence contracts? No excuse for sending our shipbuilding overseas.
There's NO excuse for sending new Fleet Solid Support ship contracts overseas. We already have a highly skilled UK shipbuilding workforce, which this work would add to, more than capable of making them at a fair market price >> new findings http://www.gmb.org.uk/turning-the-tide#MakingIt
“Shipbuilding workers are disillusioned by orders flowing overseas while highly skilled jobs at UK shipyards are being cut. The Government should use this order to buy for Britain and rebuild our defence shipbuilding" - @rossgmb2018#MakingIt
